Product Selection Methodology
This page explains the criteria we use to decide which products to feature and how we assign designations like Best Overall, Best Value, and Best Premium in our comparisons.
What we look at
- Build quality and materials — cabin or shell construction, insulation, and finish.
- Performance — heating or cooling capability as specified by the manufacturer.
- Installation requirements — electrical needs, footprint, and indoor/outdoor suitability.
- Price relative to features — what you get for the price compared to similar products.
- Available customer feedback — rating and review volume, where available.
How we assign comparison highlights
We only assign a Best Overall, Best Value, or Best Premiumbadge within a comparison when the underlying price, rating, and feature data clearly support it. Not every comparison includes all three — if the data doesn't clearly favor a product in a given category, we leave that designation off rather than force it.
What we don't do
- We don't invent prices, discounts, ratings, or review counts.
- We don't invent technical specifications not published by the manufacturer.
- We don't accept payment in exchange for a specific rating or ranking.
Keeping content current
Product pages display when information was last verified. Pricing and specifications can change after that date — always confirm current details on the merchant's site before purchasing.
